In a pre-emptive bid, Entertainment One has swooped in on Ascot Elite’s action film Northmen – A Viking Saga directed by Claudio Faeh, acquiring the UK and Ireland, France, Australia and New Zealand, Scandinavia and South Africa from The Salt Company. Producers are Ralph Dietrich, Karin Dietrich and Daniel Höltschi.
The project was generated by Ralph Dietrich of Ascot Elite Entertainment Group, one of the leading distributors in Germany and Switzerland.
“There just aren’t a lot of quality action films at this level out there,” says Dietrich. “So with our years of experience in acquisition and distribution, we were able to assemble the best team, came up with a great script, and are currently formalising some exciting creative elements. In short, we finally stopped discussing it and are getting down to the business of making it. We are delighted that Entertainment One wanted to join in the fun.”
The Salt Company boarded the project over the summer.
Salt’s James Norrie, “With Northmen we felt we had finally found a Viking movie the industry would crave. Bloody and visceral entertainment, but with great characters and a touch of class. Entertainment One’s aggressive multi territory pick up shows us that this is the case and we are thrilled to be in business with them again.”
Northmen – A Viking Saga is an action chase movie. A gang of Viking marauders, off to plunder Lindisfarne of its gold, are shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland. The survivors cut a bloody swath as they are pursued relentlessly by the King of Scotland’s mercenaries (longer synopsis below).

The film will shoot in Bulgaria in 2013 and is a Bulgarian/German co-production in the English language.
