The Pool

Salt dives into The Pool

May 13th, 2014

Salt has boarded high-concept horror The Pool, to be directed by Paul Hyett, for worldwide sales. Written by Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera (with revisions by Paul Hyett, Conal Palmer and Steven Lally), producer is Tim Dennison.

A pool party in a luxury cliff top house becomes a desperate fight for survival when the beloved family dog turns rabid.

Director Paul Hyett (The Seasoning House, Howl) is also an award winning SFX, VFX and animatronic effects guru (The Descent, The Woman in Black). Hyett draws on classic horrors like Jaws and Paranormal Activity, saying “What elevates a horror into a classic is making the audience terrified of the everyday – in this case, man’s best friend”. Hyett is creating proprietary new FX for the project.

Film shoots autumn 2014 in Puerto Rico.

Producer is Tim Dennison (Mutant Chronicles) of Tall Man Films. Executive producers are Peter La Terriere of Platform 9 Pictures, Robert Bevan, Samantha Horley, Cyril Mégret and James Norrie of The Salt Company and Paul Blacknell.
