Meeting the Marketplace

At the Vipers Nest launch on October 6th at Salt, where The Vipers met each other for the first time, writer and Viper Kevin Lehane shared his inspiration for the concept for Irish comedy horror Grabbers, and the practicalities of rewriting to a realistic budget. Producer Tracy Brimm (Forward Films) talked about Grabbers and the realities of helping the director deliver his vision (and many CGI creatures) for that budget and progressing it towards production. Piers Tempest (Salt and Grabbers co-producer) delivered an eye opening and invaluable crash course in film financing.

High profile industry guests, Toby Hill (Icon), Alexei Boltho (Paramount), Jo Sweby (E1) and Lucas Webb (Weinstein Co.) freely discussed their opinions on the state of the market, what distributors are looking for, how they make the decision to make an offer, and how to target the right company with your material.

“Fun, informative & quite surreal too. Like a kind of grown up youthclub.”
Corin Hardy

“It felt so good to meet you all [fellow vipers] and to meet our speakers – who are essential and instrumental to our successes”
