Killing Bono

Only a couple of idiots would try to outdo U2

The hilarious true story of two nobodies who took on the biggest somebody on earth, from the writers of The Commitments.

Ben Barnes (Dorian Gray, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Easy Virtue) and Robert Sheehan (Season of the Witch) are hapless brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick who set up a band in Dublin in the late 70’s. Sadly for them, so did their classmates and rivals, who go on to become U2.

Neil McCormick, a punk schoolboy in Dublin in the 1970s wants to be famous, more than famous, he’s certain his destiny is to be a rock god. He and his little brother Ivan have it all worked out: the platinum albums, the stadium concerts, the screaming girls, the quest for world peace. There’s one thing they hadn’t counted on, the small boy quietly sitting on the other side of the classroom has plans of his own. And his name is Bono. And there’s another thing, Bono tells Neil he wants Ivan for his band. And Neil’s not going to tell him…

Adapted from the autobiography I Was Bono’s Doppelgänger (US title Killing Bono) by Neil McCormick. Also starring Krysten Ritter (She’s Out of My League, 27 Dresses, Vamps) and Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, Couples Retreat) with Pete Postlethwaite. Also appearing is Martin McCann (Clash of the Titans) as Bono.

Director is Nick Hamm (Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence, The Hole and Godsend) with original music created by Mike Hedges and Joe Echo. Music producer Mike Hedges has collaborated with U2, The Cure, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Dido, Travis and The Manic Street Preachers. Echo’s writing credits include Madonna’s Celebration. Sony Music will release the soundtrack worldwide.
